Lewes is set to raise a glass to English Wine Week with WINELANDS – an exciting festival of pop-up wine events taking place from 22-29 June 2025. Designed to showcase the world-class quality of Sussex and Southeast England’s wines, WINELANDS will bring together wine lovers, local producers, and industry experts for a week-long celebration of the region’s finest vintages.

‘BATTLE OF THE BUBBLES’ at the Depot Cinema | SOLD OUT
£40 per person, to include a film and England v France wine tasting
A special screening of ‘The Story of Champagne’, with an England v France wine tasting.
The film is billed as “a love letter to the joys and pleasures of Champagne and Sparkling Wine” and explores British connections to famous champagne houses and vineyards in the South of England.
The ticket includes a wine tasting led by Lewes resident Master of Wine, Mike Best. He will guide you through a blind tasting of six top sparkling wines, English v French, to judge which comes out on top. With a selection of cheeses from France and Britain by Cheese Please.
There is a choice of two sittings for the tasting: 5pm or 8pm, either before or after the film, which will run from 6.15 to 7.45pm

A drop in tasting with a dozen amazing English Wine producers, including;

Wine will be on sale by the glass or bottle. There will also be cheese plates by Cheese Please available and Henry Jeffreys will also be signing copies of his book about English Wine ‘Vines in a Cold Climate’

Olly Smith, TV presenter and wine expert, will introduce this very special evening which will include;
• An English cocktail on arrival, specially created by Rebecca Alley from Plumpton College.
• A delicious seasonal menu by Field Food
• Festive long sharing tables
• Tastings of the following local English Wines to pair with the meal, including;

GUIDED VINEYARD TOUR AND TASTING / 10am – 4.30pm | FEW REMAINING TICKETS
£85 by minibus / £50 by bicycle
Tom Surgey, author and presenter, will be your host and guide on this wine tasting tour of three amazing local vineyards: Artelium, Ridgeview and Everflyht. Snacks will be available and you can order from the Ridgeview menu, or bring a picnic.
The Minibus tour will leave Charleston Lewes at 10.00am, returning 4pm: £85 per person (15 places)
Alternatively make your own way, starting at Artelium at 10.30am: £50 per person. For cyclists please see Strava route courtesy of CycleLewes.

A collaborative evening with Artelium Wine Estate with a special five-course set menu paired with wines from Artelium. The evening will be co-hosted by Simon Golding of Artelium, who’ll guide you through each pairing and share the stories behind the wines. £69 per person, including all food and wine. Book here

Julie and Mark from Artelium Wine will give us a closer look at what makes Sussex such an interesting place for wine – from the region’s unique soil and rich history, to the unpredictable weather, and the challenges (and triumphs!) of growing wine in England. We will taste two reds and two whites along with two sparkling wines. Then enjoy a casual one-course supper and revisit your favourites – all bottles will be open and on the table for you to enjoy. £25 per person, including supper. Book here

Some top English Sparkling producers will discussing all things wine at the new Squisito Bar, starting on Saturday with Luke Spalding from Everflyht Estate and then on Thursday Paul Pippard, the owner of Beacon Downs Vineyard will be answering your questions. This is your chance to find out everything about the English wine industry and taste with the talented makers. No need for bookings or ticket fees—just come by and enjoy tasting some fabulous wines with the creators, or book a table for supper here if you are planning on eating afterwards.
